Deep River Public Library

Author Reading with Amanda Sun, Louise Ells & Britt Gillman

Part of ‘Riverside Writers: a Creative Immersion’, authors Amanda Sun, Louise Ells and Britt Gillman will be reading from their latest works and answering questions.

Amanda Sun is an award-winning YA and Fantasy author of several novels and short stories, published in five languages and nine countries worldwide. She is also an Assistant Editor at HarperCollins on Harlequin’s Love Inspired imprint, and worked previously at Scholastic as a children’s editor. Born and raised in Deep River, she currently lives in the GTA where she rides horses, cross stitches, and spins fantastical yarns. Find her on Instagram at @AmandaSunBooks.

Louise Ells grew up beside the Ottawa River, then combined random jobs (chef, caregiver, co-pilot on a submarine) with years of travel. The author of Notes Towards Recovery, a thematically-linked short story collection, and Lies I Told My Sister, Louise earned her PhD in Creative Writing from Anglia Ruskin University, and was a Hawthornden Fellow in 2017. Louise teaches at universities and colleges in England and Canada and lives just north of Toronto, where she can often be found in her library surrounded by books and snuggled up with her cats.

Britt Gillman (she/her). Britt Gillman’s essays, flash and fiction have been published in The New York Times, EVENT, Eavesdrop Magazine, kerning and are forthcoming elsewhere. In 2023 & 2024, she won second place non-fiction prizes with Prism International and EVENT Magazine. She is currently working on a collection of personal essays that explore the connection between familial memories and class through idioms — a project inspired by curiosity on how language and etymology shapes both belonging and “other-ness”.
